2026 CREDA Awards of Excellence Winner: Wadaag Commons

Thursday, October 1st, 2026

Congratulations to Wadaag Commons! Pope Design Group joined our colleagues and other commercial real estate industry members for the 43rd Annual CREDA (formerly NAIOP) of Minnesota Awards of Excellence.

The CREDA of Minnesota Awards of Excellence is one of the most significant events of the year for the commercial real estate industry to honor the year’s top projects.  We are excited to share that Wadaag Commons won the Multi-Family Mid-Rise (5-7 stories) category.

Wadaag Commons
Minneapolis, Minnesota

In Somali, ‘Wadaag’ means to share. That’s at the heart of Wadaag Commons, a new affordable, family-oriented apartment community in Minneapolis. Noor Companies and Redesign partnered to develop this transformative 39-unit community to support multi-generational families through thoughtful, culturally responsive design. As the Seward Commons redevelopment final phase, the project combines affordability, sustainability, and community. The building offers one- to four-bedroom units, shared amenities, and outdoor spaces that promote connection and wellbeing. Extensive collaboration with stakeholders and future residents shaped the program, resulting in a housing model that prioritizes dignity, flexibility, and long-term livability while revitalizing a constrained urban site.
