WesleyLife Celebrates Groundbreaking in Indianola
Tuesday, June 10th, 2025
Last week, Pope Design Group joined WesleyLife at the The Village in Indianola, Iowa, to celebrate the groundbreaking of the senior living community’s exciting next phase. The $49.5 million addition is a reinvestment into the local community and the vibrancy of the 55-plus population.
Highlights from this post came from local coverage of the event by the Business Record.
The project includes 28 new townhomes and a new apartment building with 28 units. Features include:
- A new entrance
- Updates to an existing apartment building
- Refreshed communal gathering spaces
- New community room
- Expanded Wellness Center
- Enhanced dining options
- Additional parking
Shared rooms in the long term and skilled care areas will be replaced by private suites, and new outdoor amenities will encourage connection and well-being.
This is WesleyLife’s largest investment in an already existing community. Pope Design Group’s team worked closely with WesleyLife’s leadership to master plan, analyze the campus, and develop visions into concepts addressing key goals of adding private resident rooms, expanding assisted living and independent living and adding wellness programming spaces both indoors and on campus.
In addition to breaking ground on physical construction, the event also marked the beginning of a $2 million capital campaign. The campaign is driven in part by the goal of battling social isolation among seniors, encouraging living well and planning ahead for Iowa’s changing demographics and workforce.
According to the Business Record, by the year 2030, more Iowans will be over the age of 65 than under 18, and the number of people over 85 will nearly double. This project will create more options for these aging residents, and most importantly it will provide welcoming spaces where seniors can connect and find purpose. The design will help seniors remain in their local community while staying active and independent through wellness programs, healthy dining and compassionate care.
Stay tuned for updates! Construction on all phases is expected to be complete in 2027.
