Senior Housing News Awards: The Summit of Bettendorf
Monday, December 18th, 2023
Pope Design Group is pleased to announce that WellSpire’s The Summit of Bettendorf is the second place winner of the 2023 SHN Architecture & Design Awards for Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) / Life Plan Community (LPC).
The Summit of Bettendorf is a new full-continuum-of-care community serving the Quad Cities. The community is designed to maximize the resident-hospitality experience, ensure highest quality care, and create opportunities to enhance a sense of purpose, meaning, and joy in the lives of those served. Built on a premise of health and well-being, The Summit seeks to transforms the aging experience by supporting healthier and more active lifestyles. As the flagship community of WellSpire, a joint partnership of WesleyLife and Genesis Health, the campus is the result of the team’s collective vision with features that will elevate holistic wellness for all.
The Summit features four levels of independent living with a first-floor assisted living household, along with two 20-person skilled-care households and one 16-person assisted memory support household in a neighborhood cluster model.
Inclusivity and flexibility were key drivers in the design, and The Summit highlights innovation with luxuries such as multiple dining options, blended care levels, a comprehensive Wellness Hub, and features such as a demonstration-like skilled-care kitchen and golf simulator.
All spaces include a heightened level of design to create inspiring destinations with maximum flexibility. These environments can be activated by residents without staff programming, supporting residents’ choice and freedom to create lifestyle experiences on their schedule – such as book club, pickleball or a wine tasting. By design, wellness can happen anywhere in the community inside or out, and the design supports all people, even skilled care residents, in seeking out destinations and activities.
Congrats to WellSpire, WesleyLife and Genesis Health on this recognition.
