RC Hospital and Clinics celebrated with a public open house and facility tours on Monday, September 21 on its 26-acre campus on Highway 212 along the eastern edge of Olivia, Minnesota. Several hundred people attended the event.
The new $25 million dollar, 18-bed facility replaces a landlocked campus originally constructed in 1951. It’s now one of the largest employers in Renville County.
The 65,000 sq. ft. hospital includes 18 exam rooms, a procedure room in the ambulatory clinic, 16 inpatient suites, lab, radiology, therapy, outpatient and specialty clinics, two operating rooms, education center, hearth room, gardens, walking path, and new technology such as MRI, helipad, and tele-medicine capabilities.
Pope Architects provided services starting from the very early phases of programming and design, all the way through the completion of construction. Project Manager Kristen Rickord attended the event.
“They are really excited to have a brand new facility. Their previous location was landlocked with no potential for expansion. We were able to help them select a site and move forward with design,” said Rickord. “The new space introduces a garden view from patient rooms as opposed to the more limited views at the former hospital location.”
The hospital and community were successful in raising additional funding for features not included in the original plan such as the MRI, clinic expansion, and fitting out of a second operating room.
Patients from the old hospital will be relocated to the new facility on Sunday.
