Pope Architects’ Design Duo are winners of 2019 AIA St. Paul Prize

Monday, November 18th, 2019

Pope Architects is proud to congratulate Adam Lapacz, Assoc. AIA and Chirag Khurana, who won the AIA St. Paul Prize design competition.

The AIA St. Paul Prize program identifies a property for potential design opportunities and gives entrants a week to develop a concept and create design boards to showcase their solution.

This year’s opportunity focused on Shephard Road and Davern Street at the south edge of St. Paul. Formerly the U.S. Bank Building, it was demolished in 2013 and most of the site has remained vacant since.

The challenge was to create a market rate mixed-use development with housing, amenities, appropriate parking, event space, and street-level retail, while meeting the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area design standards.

Adam and Chirag will have the opportunity to present their design for Vista Bluffs Development at the AIA Minnesota “Food for Thought” event in 2020 and will be formally recognized at the 2019 Licensure Luau hosted by the Emerging Professionals Committee.
