Jon Pope Leadership in Architecture Scholarship Winner, 2023-2024

Congratulations to Fran Di Caprio, the 2023-2024 recipient of the Jon Pope Leadership in Architecture Scholarship.
Fran earned a M.Arch from the University of Minnesota this spring, and he recently visited Pope Design Group’s offices to meet with President Ward Isaacson and Chief Operating Officer Gonzalo Villares.
Fran is a St. Paul native who received a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and a certificate in architecture from Princeton University before attending the U of M. He also received Gensler’s Rising Black Designers Scholarship in 2023. Fran is active in the community, both as a member of the local NOMA chapter and as a board member of streets.mn, a Twin Cities organization focused on improving transportation and urban planning.
The Jon Pope Leadership in Architecture Scholarship was established in 2016 following Jon Pope’s retirement from the firm, to honor Jon’s legacy for the business of architecture by supporting University of Minnesota architecture students with a similar ambition for design.
Jon devoted the better part of his career to the mentorship of the next generation of architects and designers, instilling in them the same entrepreneurial spirit that drove him to establish the firm so many years ago.
