Wednesday, January 4th, 2023
Jill Schroeder, Senior Planner at Pope Design Group, has been honored by Environments for Aging (EFA) as a 2022 Design Champion. This program celebrates individuals who are working hard to make a difference in the lives of residents and care providers by influencing the evolution of senior living design.
With over 28 years in the field, Jill is passionate about continuing to push the boundaries for senior living design environments by challenging providers to emulate spaces to feel safe and comfortable. She is is the President of SAGE, a national member-based organization for the Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments. Jill currently serves on the Healthcare Guidelines Revision Committee (HGRC) of the Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) and is Vice Chair of the Residential Health Subcommittee for the FGI Emergency Conditions Whitepaper.
“I started to let go of the finishes in a space and began looking at it architecturally in terms of realistic uses and flows. Big-picture thinking like shifting and repositioning or getting deeper into the overall planning of space adjacencies and configurations all the way to more subtle details like traffic flow, sight lines and visual anchors can make a tremendous difference. This approach helps me thoughtfully and sensibly improve resident and staff lives in a way that makes sense for the people who are going to be using the spaces every day,” Jill shared in the EFA Design Champions feature.
