Hot Off the Press: SAGE POE Brio of Johnston

The 2022 SAGE Post-Occupancy Evaluation White Paper on the Brio of Johnston is officially published.

Last year, SAGE dispatched a multidisciplinary team to Brio of Johnston, a WesleyLife Community for Healthy Living in Johnston, Iowa. The team conducted a post-occupancy evaluation of the community through the lens of SAGE design principles.

Brio was honored with the Environments for Aging (EFA) Design Showcase top honor Award of Merit in 2020. The community opened in January 2019, and is designed with wellness as its foundation. It pushes innovation to create a continuum of care community designed fully around healthy living and person-centered care. Sited on 22 acres in a suburb of Des Moines, the community serves 55+ through all stages of care, including end of life and late stage Alzheimer’s.

The SAGE POE White Paper includes an overview of project’s setting and goals, the POE team’s observations, insights from conversations with small focus groups and individuals, and community highlights.
