Healthcare Design Expo Conference 2016: Pediatric Behavioral Health Design

Tuesday, November 15th, 2016

Pope Architects’ Principal Erica Larson joined other design experts to discuss Environmental Design for Pediatric Behavioral Health at the 2016 Healthcare Design Expo & Conference.

Larson shared her experiences on how design can positively influence behavioral healthcare outcomes. For example, integrating positive distractions like views of nature and playful features can have a calming effect on pediatric patients and their families. She spoke of principles that were applied in the design of inpatient and outpatient environments for PrairieCare, Aris Clinics, and Meridian Behavioral Health.

The panel was hosted by the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers and helped kick-off the HCD Conference held in Houston, TX. Larson was joined by designers from Cannon Design, BWBR and Itani Design Concepts.
