Flats at Malcolm Yards celebrates start of construction

After over two years of primarily virtual meetings, it was great to celebrate construction kickoff in person for The Flats at Malcolm Yards. The Flats is a new affordable housing project that will enhance the vibrant mixed-use Malcolm Yards development.

Lupe Development and Wall Companies are partnered on the new 143-unit affordable housing project in the Malcolm Yards development in Prospect Park neighborhood near the University of Minnesota.

The developers hosted a groundbreaking near the footprint of the new building. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spoke at the event.

Mayor Frey shared that the Flats project is “an extraordinary example of how affordable housing can be thoughtfully integrated into major mixed-use developments. This will be life-changing for families and individuals in our community, including those experiencing long-term homelessness.”

Flats at Malcolm Yards will welcome its first residents in summer 2023.
