Celebrating Earth Week 2023 at Pope Design Group
Wednesday, April 26th, 2023
Pope’s Envision and Wellness Teams joined forces to host some activities in the office to celebrate Earth Week.
From volunteer events to office gatherings, employees and their families were able to have a positive impact on the environment. This year’s events included:
- Coloring Contest for Employee Kids: 14 children participated in the first annual contest. Congrats to our winners – Soren R., Eva P. and Gwyn S.!
- Elm Tree Restoration project at The Green Crew Chapter House in Bloomington: Allison Berry, Elise Kelly (and her family) and Zach Anderson who are part of Pope’s Envision Team, helped the University of Minnesota plant 50 American Elm Trees in the first ever project designed to restore trees previously devastated by Dutch Elm Disease in Minnesota. The University of Minnesota’s Invasive Species Lab identified strains of elms that are resistant to Dutch Elm Disease, and ten trees from each of the four strains were planted as part of a control group and study. It was a cold but fun event! The U of M’s study and planting event (along with pics of the Pope crew) was featured in the Star Tribune, “Elms were once a staple of Minnesota’s tree canopy; this is how researchers hope to bring them back.”
- Envision Team Office BBQ: Pope’s Envision Team will kick off the “warm” weather office grilling season by hosting a lovely lunch on Thursday.
It has been a great week of giving back and celebrating!
