Aurora on France Senior Housing celebrates construction start

Pope Architects joined the groundbreaking celebration for Aurora on France Senior Housing, alongside Fairview, Ebenezer, Volunteers of America, Mount Development and Ed Farr Architects. Together they are partnered on the new 227,577 sq. ft., 5-story new high-end, vibrant community which is expected to open October of 2016.

The celebration opened with remarks from James Hovland, Edina City Mayor, including his enthusiasm for the continued success of the Fairview and Ebenezer partnership that are once again bringing another vibrant senior housing community to Edina.

Wayne Olson, Senior Vice President of Operations Volunteers of America, expressed his gratitude for being able to partner with the individuals on this project, as well as appreciation to to be able to contribute back to the evolving and growing community of Edina.

Aurora on France will sit at the corner of France Avenue and 65th Street in Edina and be conveniently connected to Fairview Southdale Hospital. The close proximity to the hospital provides residents with easy accessibility to important healthcare services, such as a Pharmacy located right off the skyway system.

The facility will offer a variety of apartment types and include independent living, assisted living, memory care, transitional care, and independent care suites. Additional amenities for the new facility include heated, underground parking, restaurant style dining, multiple community rooms, fitness center, movie theater, hair salon and spa, and a bistro cafe.

Edward Farr Architects designed the exterior of the building  and is the Architect of Record. Pope Architects along with Encompass Interiors is providing the interior architecture and interior design services for the new community.

The continuum of care campus is a partnership between Ebenezer and Volunteers of America. Ebenezer is managing the overall senior housing community and Volunteers of America is relocating its existing Edina Care Center residents to the Skilled Nursing wings.

This is the second senior living campus in Edina that Pope Architects has partnered with Ebenezer on, the first being York Gardens at 3451 Parklawn Avenue. Click here for more information on York Gardens.
