Kraus-Anderson Companies redevelopment includes offices, apartments and Brewtel
Tuesday, August 25th, 2015
Kraus-Anderson Companies unveils a new plan to redevelop their downtown Minneapolis block with a new headquarters building, Brewtel (a boutique hotel and brewery), and 17-story apartment tower.
Pope Architects has been working with Kraus-Anderson over the last 3 years on the design of a new office headquarters building which will allow Kraus-Anderson to consolidate the company’s operations for 300 employees into one location. The City of Minneapolis and Elliot Park neighborhood group encouraged Kraus-Anderson to reconfigure their plans to provide more mixed use and less surface parking for the site bordered by 5th Avenue S, Portland Avenue, 8th Street and 9th Street in Minneapolis.
Kraus-Anderson’s new 5-story, 100,000 sq. ft. headquarters will be located on the northwest corner of the site, and includes a fifth floor outdoor deck with downtown views. Kraus-Anderson is now also partnered with ESG Architects, and is working with Finnegans on a new “Brewtel”. It will be comprised of a 7-story, 148-room hotel that will also feature a restaurant and bar, and a 3-story Finnegans microbrewery, event center and “Finnovation” center for social entrepreneurs. ESG is also designing a 17-story, 300 unit apartment building that will be along Portland Avenue, joining the Portland Residential Corridor.
All four of the site’s buildings will share two levels of underground parking, as well as a multi-purpose, landscaped central court with drop-off areas and outdoor seating/event space.
