Friday, May 1st, 2015

Governor Dayton joined St. David’s Center, supporters, the project team and early childhood education students to kick-off the second phase of the campus’ $13.7 million renovation and expansion project.

Reported by the Lakeshore Daily News, Governor Dayton praised the work being done at St. David’s Center.

“A lot of us in state government finally caught on about how important early childhood education and early intervention are. Your expertise is invaluable and saves lives and families,” said Dayton.

The celebration included children from St. David’s program helping to ceremoniously break ground and celebrate with Governor Dayton.

The project includes a 6,344 sq. ft. expansion and a major renovation of existing spaces to create a state-of-the-art early childhood education, intervention and treatment center. When the construction wraps up early 2016, the total 61,571 sq. ft. facility will offer a children’s mental health clinic, autism day treatment suites, a pediatric therapy clinic and an exceptional early childhood education preschool.

Pope Architects is the architect and interior designer and McGough Construction is the builder.

Also attending the groundbreaking were Senator Terri Bonoff and former Representative John Benson; Hennepin County Commissioner Jan Callison; Russell King, President of the Peter J. King Family Foundation; St. David’s Center Board Chair Richard Justman, MD, and members of St. David’s Center Board of Directors; and the Building Our Children’s Future Capital Campaign Committee, co-chaired by Frank Bennett and Lynn Stranghoener.
