PrairieCare received the green light to move forward on plans for its new hospital in Brooklyn Park, which will be dedicated to helping children and adolescents receive inpatient care for behavioral health and mental health illnesses.

The Brooklyn Park City Council voted unanimously on February 24, 2014 to approve the project development. PrairieCare’s new 66,600 sq. ft. hospital will open by Fall 2015, filling a growing need for children and adolescent mental health services.

Todd Archbold, PrairieCare Chief Development Officer, shared with the Star Tribune in a February 4, 2014 article that the Twin Cities has a shortage of juvenile psychiatric beds and the beds at PrairieCare’s Maple Grove facility have been utilized almost constantly since they opened in 2011.

Pope Architects has worked with PrairieCare since 2010 on several facilities, including the Maple Grove hospital, and clinics in Woodbury, Edina, Chaska and Rochester.

PrairieCare’s Brooklyn Park project was featured February 27 in the Star Tribune’s “Hot Property” section.
