Skyway to connect Mercy Hospital and new Mercy Specialty Center

Monday, April 29th, 2013

Mercy Hospital and the new 120,000 sq. ft. Mercy Specialty Center medical office building will be connected with a proposed skyway over Coon Rapids Blvd.

Pope Architects is working with Allina Health on the new pedestrian connection to provide patients, families and staff with a safe, enclosed link between the two facilities.

The Coon Rapids ABC Newspapers reported on the project, which is going before the City Council in early May 2013.

According to Coon Rapids Planner Scott Harlicker, the skyway will connect the south side of the medical office building at the southeast corner with the north side of the hospital near the main entrance.

“The skyway will provide a safe and climate controlled connection between the hospital and the office building,” Harlicker said.
