WesleyLife The Cottages celebrate groundbreaking & naming ceremony

Wednesday, April 17th, 2013

WesleyLife and the Pella, Iowa community excitedly celebrated the groundbreaking of The Cottages, a new 84,000 sq. ft. development on 50 acres.

The Cottages will open later this year and its innovative design makes it the first community of its kind in Iowa.   The campus consists of six individual cottages designed to create a genuine home and neighborhood for older adults.

Pope Architects master planned and designed the community, and Weitz Company is the builder.  The Cottages will be filled with abundant natural light and have ample green space, including landscaped courtyards.  Each cottage features a cozy living room and family-style dining area, located around a welcoming hearth. The commons area will include a café-style bistro open to residents and their families, as well as the community.

After an online voting competition, each cottage will be named after a province in the Netherlands in honor of Pella’s longstanding Dutch heritage and traditions.
