West Side Community Health Services hosted “Topping Off” Ceremony

Sunday, November 11th, 2012

West Side Community Health Services celebrated its new East Side Family Clinic by ceremoniously raising the highest beam into place.

On November 8, 2012, WSCHS staff and ceremony guests had the opportunity to sign the highest eastward facing I-beam before it was lifted and placed.

The Star Tribune reported:  “It’s about access to really good, quality health care on a bus line, in a neighborhood,” said Saint Paul City Council President, Kathy Lantry who watched Thursday with Mayor Chris Coleman, U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum and more than 100 others as the building’s highest beam was hoisted into place with a fir tree on top.

Construction on the new clinic started in September and it is expected to open for its first patients in May 2013.  Pope Architects designed the new clinic and McGough Construction is the builder.
