Cassia Planning New Transitional Care in Apple Valley

Thursday, April 17th, 2025

Minnesota-based senior living operator Cassia is planning a 60-unit short-term facility at its existing campus in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

Earlier this year, Cassia received approval from the Minnesota Department of Health’s moratorium exception to proceed, and is now going through the City approval process.

The new skilled nursing facility will enhance Cassia’s existing campus with new, modern transitional care units and services. The 63,000 SF facility would be connected to the existing Apple Valley Village Health Care Center.

The design includes a state-of-the-art PT/OT space and wellness area, dining options on each level, and an abundance of common areas with ample access to outdoor views and daylight.

The Apple Valley Planning Commission reviewed the project this week. Finance & Commerce featured a recap of the discussion in an article (linked here – subscription required).

Paul Scanlan, a member of the planning commission, said there’s a need for this type of facility in Apple Valley.

“It’s a great addition for Apple Valley … to allow residents that are in a situation where they need time to recover, that they can do that within the community versus going out. … I was excited to see this come forward,” Scanlan said.

Pope Design Group is the architect on the project, and supported Cassia through the planning and moratorium exception application process.

The MSP Business Journal featured Cassia’s new plans for the TCU facility (linked here).

Stay tuned for more updates on this project!
