Wangstad Commons Celebrates Grand Opening

Congratulations to JO Companies on the Grand Opening of Wangstad Commons in Brooklyn Center, MN. Pope Design Group joined the development team, the Mayor and City Council members, and other public and private partners to celebrate this important addition to the Brooklyn Center community near Wangstad Park.
Wangstad Commons is a new 54-unit affordable housing complex with many amenities unique to affordable multi-family housing. The 4-story, 100% affordable housing development building has one, two, three and four-bedroom units and includes 51-percent high-priority 3-bedroom units and 25-percent of units providing deeper affordability for people with disabilities or experiencing homelessness.
“This is a unique, much-needed affordable housing complex for the Brooklyn Center community. It offers sought-after larger units, great common spaces, and underground parking,” said Joseph Kimbrell, Project Manager at Pope Design Group. The building is SB2030 energy compliant through Minnesota’s B3 Program.
Amenities include a balcony and laundry for each unit, a generous-sized, beautifully finished common room that opens up to a patio with grill stations and a firepit, fitness room, business center, exterior grade parking and 20,000 SF of underground parking.
