550 W. Lake Street Affordable Housing Moving Ahead

The third phase of Lupe Development Partners’ Lake Street development received approval from the Minneapolis Planning Commission on Monday.

The project at 550 W. Lake Street will bring 91 units of affordable housing with family-sized units. The five-story apartment will include 18 project-based vouchers and 10 supportive units managed by Simpson Housing with a mix of studios and two-, three- and four-bedroom units.

“We’re all cognizant of the terrible need for family housing in this city, particularly affordable family housing,” Planning Commissioner Keith Ford said at Monday’s Planning Commission meeting. “This project is delivering it.”
