Supporting Joy Collaborative’s Barkitecture

Tuesday, August 16th, 2022

Joy Collaborative is hosting its unique pet furniture design competition fundraiser, inviting architects, designers, construction enthusiasts, and pet lovers to partake in Barkitecture 2022.

Joy Collaborative’s mission is to create environments for youth with life-limiting conditions. Joy Rooms are imaginative, functional and creative spaces that are unique to each child. They are provided at no cost to the family with the support of Joy Collaborative’s generous donors, trade partners, and sponsors. Barkitecture is an event that brings designers together to create pieces that help support their cause.

Pope Design Group and Gardner Builders are collaborating for a second year in a row, this year designing and building Asymmetric Dog House. Barkitecture participants have full creative freedom with their design – between materials, size, and concept – allowing for uniquely innovative structures.

The team took influences from the natural environment for the outdoor dog house, focusing on organic and asymmetric curves, which provide shading and sense of security for the pet. The piece utilizes wood and weather-resistant stretched fabric, with additional storage drawers underneath the structure for food bowls and toys.

As part of the fundraising efforts, the team’s goal is to raise $1500 for Joy Collaborative by September 16, 2022. To help support Joy Collaborative in their efforts to continue creating these environments for youth, you can donate to our project page here.

The Asymmetric Dog House and the other Barkitecture lounge pieces will be auctioned off on September 16 at Finnegans Brew Co. Space is limited, so come join the fun and register for a ticket here.
