Happy Holidays: Offering Support to Local Organizations

As many in our community continue to be impacted by financial and resource challenges, Pope Architects is offering support through contributions that ease hardships for others. Please take some time to learn about these wonderful organizations:

PRISM

Healthy food. Proper clothing. Housing stability.  PRISM is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1970 by folks who were concerned about local hungry and homeless families. What started as a small, informal effort has since evolved into a strong, sustainable organization that is considered a leading provider of basic needs services in the northwest Twin Cities suburbs. Each year with help and donations, PRISM:

  • Provides 1,000,000 pounds of food to 8,000 children, adults, and seniors

  • Helps 250 families obtain and maintain stable housing

  • Supplies 300 families with clothes for school and work

  • Gives 1,000 kids school supplies, birthday gifts, and holiday toys

  • Engages 600 volunteers in 25,000 hours of service

Open Arms of Minnesota

With Open Arms, we nourish body, mind and soul.  Founded in 1986, Open Arms of Minnesota is a nonprofit that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities.

Open Arms believes that food is medicine, and their work matters to the health outcomes of their clients. With the help of over 7,500 volunteers, Open Arms cooks and delivers more than 600,000 delicious meals this year to people living with life-threatening illnesses, as well as their caregivers and dependents.

Lifeworks

Inclusively serving people with disabilities for more than 50 years.  Since 1965, Lifeworks Services Inc. has been a champion for inclusion. Lifeworks was founded by families who recognized the importance of advocacy and breaking down barriers for people with disabilities to be part of the community. Lifeworks serves more than 2,900 Minnesotans with disabilities and their families.

Clarence Wigington Architectural Scholarship

Advancing EQUITY in the profession by sponsoring promising minority students with focused and sustained financial support.  Created in 1992 by the Minnesota Architectural Foundation as the Minority Architectural Scholarship, this fund was renamed the Clarence Wigington Architectural Scholarship to recognize the extraordinary professional and civic accomplishments of the first African American municipal architect in the United States and the first licensed African American architect in Minnesota. The Fund supports racial/ethnic minority students who have a specific interest in pursuing a professional architecture degree leading toward becoming a Registered Architect. Advancing equity in the profession by sponsoring promising minority students with focused and sustained financial support.
